I really want to get started laying out our front flower beds, but that would require a trip to Lowe’s that I really have no desire to make. They have been to crowded for comfort on non-holiday weekends.

If the weather  holds there are three small bushes I need to rip out. That will be fun.

We’re getting 20 cubic yards of stuff delivered 10 mulch 10 wood chips. I’m actually looking forward to these because last time it was 10cubic yards of soil... we have to move it all by hand and really far haha.

Other than that I refreshed our grill yesterday. New burner tubes, regulator, flavor bars?, and drip tray. So maybe cook something?

Otherwise I intend to drive the Alltrack some more as I didn’t get to test out much of the the tune on the way home yesterday.

How long are your stuck checkin’ hellen hunts?

Sounds like a great weekend of yardwork.

I need to clean the flavor bars on mine. I think there’s a half inch of leftover char on there.

They have me doing this until the end of June. The plant will be back to three shifts in two weeks, so I’ll be occupied then.

I am in no position to complain. They’re paying me to hand out face masks with grill tongs and give thumbs up to people getting their temperature checked. It could be a lot worse.

I can imagine the chaos at Lowe’s or Home Depot this weekend. And flower beds are one of those products you can’t really order ahead of time and pick up curbside.

For now I would mainly need garden edging and material to replace some rotted garden timbers. We’re doing these gardens from scratch so I need to lay out the shape and start tearing out grass.

I also have some branches I need to get rid of, but our local yard waste disposal site has very inconvenient operating hours. They’re open on Thursday but only from 8am-12pm and the second Saturday of the month from 7am-11am.

Ohio has a scenic thing to look at. Congratulations, you have now seen it. I spent five of the longest years of my life in Wooster, Ohio. Oof.

There were actually a few nice places to go. And nice people to meet. And Hardee’s was a thing there. I once took a day long drive for a cuckoo clock while in Ohio. And I was once prayed over while sitting in a fallen log while looking a beautiful sunset. It was the oddest thing that wasn’t drug related that has ever happened to me. And I was stoned at the time. Anyway, have fun out there.

Should I spend $228 on what was original a $25 part or spend $100 on a non period correct brake master cylinder that will take some slight modification to make work ? Car is a series 1 Datsun 240z for reference. I guess they are worth something these days.

If you plan on selling it for maximum value, go for the period correct. If you just need it to brake properly for your own use, go cheap.

I personally never held interest in “matching numbers” or period correct parts. As long as it functions I’ll take it.

We looked at a wedding venue in Wooster. It was gorgeous , but nestled in amish country. It also was a dry county, and the wedding would have a curfew of 10PM if we held it there. We politely passed on it.

I do have some slight amount of nostalgia in keeping the car period correct. I’m going to do some tinkering today and go one direction or the other by the end of the day. M oney isn’t the issue, it’s the principal of a 100% mark up on a 45 year old NOS OEM part that has got me a little pissed. Like paying MSRP on a 20 year old chevy cavalier. Why would you even do that?

Yeah it was a weird place to go to college. You could buy beer at the drive though liquor barn but to get a keg you had to go to Canton. And the women were all ugly. Strange scene, man.

The $100 part if the modifications aren’t too painful.

But because it’s a series 1, may be swap it out before any sale?  Irrelevant if you're not selling it.

Kinja'd!!!1

The thing about getting a newer model is if anything were to go wrong in the future I could actually repair it. Very unlikely as the original lasted 50 years and I will be long gone in 50 years. Also I’m not confident the “rebuild” kit will work 100% if the master cylinder in the car is worn beyond specifications, ie even with new rubber seal cups it won’t seal correctly.

I spent my early 20's in Michigan where you can get a keg at every gas station basically. I now have to drive at least an hour to a beverage distributor warehouse just for a keg now. It’s honestly one of my biggest dislikes with living in Ohio.

J ust got back from covid19 grocery shopping, (I wrote “hello!” with a smiley face on my mask which seems to lighten the mood for some.) I love how they have given up on the locked liquor cabinets - they were all wide open at 6:30 in the morning. Going for a walk/easy hike with my better half this afternoon once the sun comes out in a spot that isn’t busy and has enough space to distance.

In the  early 90s when Roy Rogers was the preferred fast food joint of the DMV, Hardee’s bought them out and converted the stores to Hardee’s, but kept Roy’s signature fried chicken on the Hardee’s menu. But once Carl’s Jr. bought Hardee’s, it basically morphed into Carl’s Jr. East. And now...Roy’s is back around the DMV, because it was resurrected by younger members of the Marriott family, which was the originator of Roy’s in the first place.

The bore looks fine. Yes please ask. The kit I got from the Zstore was not correct, the cups fit way too loose . It’s. 7/8” diameter. Same configuration as the roadster but slightly larger diameter. The kit should have one master seal and three intermediate seals for the pistons.

Lowe’s and such at 6:00 in the morning on weekends right when they open has been my go to the few times that I couldn’t avoid it. Otherwise I hit  the farm supply store as they have most yard and hardware stuff that Lowe’s would have and most homeowners don’t know that so it’s easy to keep distant and get in and out.

Yes but I have to do some brake line switching around, which includes bending the existing brake lines to line up with the holes. The newer Z’s have the front reservoir and rear brake reservoir switched around compared to the series 1 cars.  Unless I can get a reasonable priced rebuild kit this is the direction I’m going in.
